Enjoy a fun, laid back evening of volunteering, meeting other young professionals who are passionate about giving back and helping us prepare to get donated children's books to kids in need ASAP. Come make a difference for kids in your community while you learn about United Way LINC (Lead Impact Network Change), a group for early career professionals who are passionate about giving back, helping to build a more vibrant Columbus and gaining the skills to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Guests will enjoy free pizza and beer/wine while helping us sort 4,000 children's books we received through our recent Books & Brews book drive. These books will be distributed to various United Way of Central Ohio funded youth programs at our partner agencies across the community, but we need your help sorting all the books by age range so we can save our nonprofit partners precious time and allow them to get the books into kids hands as quickly as possible.
Why is it necessary to collect donated children's books? Every child, regardless of economic background, deserves access to books in their home. Unfortunately, one in three families in central Ohio can't meet basic living expenses and books just aren't in the budget. These book donations will help provide more kids with the necessary tools for development of vocabulary, literacy, fine motor skills, etc. that are crucial to their education.
Pizza and beer/wine will be provided.Register to attend We hope to see you there!
