YWCA Leadership Programs Happy Hour

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Alumnae of and women interested in the YWCA's Leadership Programs are invited to attend a networking and discussion happy hour at Sidebar in downtown Columbus.

Our discussion will be around the This American Life news podcast episode titled "Tell Me I’m Fat".  This quick listen is a really empowering look at body image and the way we view ourselves. If you have a chance to listen to the episode before the event please take some time to reflect on the questions below and come ready to share. If you do not have time to listen before that is okay, we will fill you in!

Our reflection questions for the evening are:
  1. Have you struggled with body images issues in the past or present and how did they affect your personal identity.
  2. How have you seen social norms and systems make it difficult for you to view yourself positively.
  3. Do you think that toxic masculinity plays a role in self-love and body image? If so why?
  4. Do you have goals of gaining a more positive and empowering view of yourself. If so how do you plan to carry those out?

Please RSVP for this event by emailing Lauren James at ljames@ywcacolumbus.org.
